Third-party vs comprehensive car insurance

When buying vehicle insurance in Saudi Arabia, the two main options are third-party (TPL) and comprehensive coverage. Each serves a different need.

Third-party insurance

Covers your liability toward others if you cause damage to a third party. It is the minimum legally required coverage and usually does not cover damage to your own vehicle.

Comprehensive insurance

Provides broader protection, including damage to your own vehicle and liability toward others. It may also cover events such as fire, theft, and natural disasters depending on policy terms.

  • TPL: suitable if you need legal compliance at a lower cost.
  • Comprehensive: suitable if you want stronger protection for your vehicle and investment.
